I am an international poet born into the ocean breeze, white sands and smiling sun of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. In the 50’s, I immigrated with my family to the USA, Bronx, New York. Other poets have described my work: “Her surgically poetic precision offers us a clear vision of her feelings, no half way stuff here, nothing trite, corny or simply written. Govine Ituarte loves language, words and music and it shows in her poems straight from her heart, playful, poignant and true.”
After finishing my education, Ed.D. from Columbia University in Higher Education, and many years of working as a diversity expert with universities, businesses and attorneys and also being a journalist and radio host/producer, I developed my natural ability to mediate between people to inspire them to get results. Lately, with my new endeavors in poetry, I have found this to be an incredible tool that enables me to inspire people in pursuing common artistic endeavors. |
